Exploring homage in electroacoustic music: exposing the hidden histories and work of early women electronic composers in Europe (1940-75)

My research will investigate the concept of homage in electroacoustic music as a means to createnew compositions, sound installations and performances to shine a spotlight upon forgotten andmarginalised female figures in electronic music. The time between 1940-75 is understood as thefounding period when the first studios and 'schools' of electronic music began to appear in Europealong with the first outputs of musique concrète and electronic music. Historically, only creative workfrom male electronic music pioneers appear documented within this timeframe. Here there is a needto attend to women composers of electronic music from this chosen time period, examining theiroverlooked, forgotten or hidden contributions to the field
