Inclusive design takes into consideration the broad range of physical and mental needs and capabilities among users. Moreover, it seeks to provide guidance for designers to promote a more inclusive design process. It is crucial to consider these principles from the start of the design process to avoid potential modifications at a later stage causing significant costs. The current research will look at inclusive design and what challenges users face when using digital interface designs. The research will provide understanding of how mental models can explain the behaviour of users. For the development of mental models we need to allow for change and evolution to understand inclusive design and how it is developing in the context of digital interfaces. Research will explore user communication strategies regarding the user-system interaction along with the impact on user behaviour and output. Self-efficacy impact on digital interface use and the user experience and motivation. It will consider different stakeholders involved in the design including; users, designers and those who maintain systems and communicate with users. Looking at models and literature will provide insight into current practices and give guidance for future digital interface inclusion.
