Eukaryotic cells have to coordinate a large number of cellular processes inorder to function properly. Understanding how this is achieved is critical formany areas of the biosciences. The protein Vps45 regulates membranetraffic through the endosomal system and also plays a role in preventing cellsfrom entering programmed cell death (apoptosis). This project will use acombination of yeast genetics, cell biology and biochemistry to understandhow these two critical cellular pathways are interrelated.
