This PhD focuses on the ion transport within a basic quantum algorithm,and seeks to implement diabatic shuttling operations including all primitives required for re-configuration of up to 10+ ionswithin a multizone X-junction ion trap processor. We also seek to realize a system with 10+ individually-addressable qubits,99%+ average 2-qubit gate fidelity between arbitrary qubit pairs, 99.9% single qubit gates, interwoven with relevant shuttling operations and99% fidelity average for all other operations. We hope to implement and demonstrate simple quantum algorithms such as error detection andcorrection with a logical qubit.
