The project focuses on creating a generalisable framework for individuals, and individuals within groups, to carry out n-of-1 self-study to build better understanding of properties and practices to support developing knowledge, skills and practice to sustain resilience over the life course. In this proposed work, the candidate is interested in looking at how to design interactive technology to develop and support this approach of individual-as-experimenter, less to try to determine the answer to a personal health issue, and more to explore how a person or community can explore what science has already determined is supposed to be good for us (get X hours of sleep a night, eat lots of greens) -to see how to operationalise that, in order to build personal and community health practices and skills -that once determined -do not need constant intervention -that can establish effective self-reliance. The contributions from this work will be at least in high impact HCI, Health Technologies, Public Health venues. As also described below, carry over from the research is being used in both citizen science work lead by USouthampton from the Living Lab and part of spin out consideration, from associated international collaborations.
