英文摘要
This practice-led PhD investigates how experimental film-based spatial practices are responding to and re-authoring the temporal (and spatial) qualities of place. EmployingSchmidt di Friedberg's readings on spatial disorientation as a means of framing such praxes, I will work with early film-making strategies, photochemical technologies and on-location approaches, as the basis of a practice that negotiates the representation and materiality of place, exploring the possibilities of dislocation and duality, to recast the placial subject. Born in the Southern Hemisphere with European ancestry, coastal locations of Ireland and my home island, Tasmania, will serve as antipodal sites to orientate this research.
