This research concerns some very intuitive ideas: While some choices are easy, some are hard, even if one is rational enough. When making choices, one trades off some values with others. Some values can be easily traded off with others, while some cannot. Which values one takes as too vital to be traded off tells us what kind of person one is. It aims to override the existing theories of rational choice and practical reason, and to develop a novel framework to understand the nature of rational choice, the way people view values, and the meaning of "being oneself".
