Evaluation of Organic Semiconductor Radiation Detectors for safeguarding applications

Organic semiconductor (OSC)-based radiation detectors have promise for nuclear security applications. This project will use existing technology that the Detector Development Group (DDG) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) have developed using STFC funding, based on bulk heterojunction radiation detectors and apply this to target a portal security demonstrator. The aim is to address technical and scientific requirements targeting international standards. The key goals for this are to study long term performance and stability of OSC devices (including temperature and humidity), OSC aging and response to radiation sources.
