Gravitational waves offer a new observational probe on the structure of black holes and very compact stars that exhibit strong gravity. Hence, they have the potential of revealing new physics, putatively associated with quantum gravity or extensions of the standard model of particle physics. To extract such information from gravitational wave data one needs to mathematically model binary systems composed of black holes and compact stars in scenarios where they carry new fundamental fields and confront the results with gravitational-wave observations. This is the main focus of this project. It will include theoretical development and analysis, perturbative and numerical mathematical modelling, and some elements of data analysis.
