Advances in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and automation present both game-changingopportunities and existential threats to business and organisations (Sebastian et al., 2020).Understanding how to integrate intelligent systems with human knowledge and efforts istherefore important to best use these technologies, while also considering ethical dilemmas inthe management and governance of these systems. These new technologies are generative,malleable, interactive and open (Klein and Watson-Manheim, 2021), hence they influencethe nature of work, alter existing leadership styles and create new capabilities andorganisational structures, making their management a complex technical and social task(Baptista et al., 2020). This study will explore the emergent integration of autonomous multirobot(AMR) technology and swarm robotics in organisations, especially in the context ofenvironmental monitoring and disaster prevention and handling. Moreover, it will investigatehow these technologies can be aligned with fundamental human values as expressed in theUnited Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly ensuring they actresponsibly, contributing to the literature on social responsibility and information systemssecurity.
