英文摘要
Anchored in the critical concept of transnational ethnofuturisms and informed by postcolonial and intersectional perspectives, this thesis argues that contemporary diasporic East and Southeast Asian speculative fiction (ESEA SF) acts as praxis for dismantling systems of racial oppression and envisioning socially just futures. This will be examined via the works of four writers published in the 2010s-namely, R.F. Kuang's The Poppy War trilogy, Neon Yang's Tensorate duology, Victor Fernando R. Ocampo's The Infinite Library and Other Stories, and Aliette de Bodard's Xuya Universe novelettes. Using mixed methods research, the project will explore how these authors use genre devices to refract oppressivestructures and reimagine socio-political change, and their significance in reshaping Anglophone SF into a plural and postcolonial literary community. I will produce a final thesis, a podcast in conversation with peer researchers, and an open-access archive documenting ESEA SF works.
