英文摘要
The project speaks directly to key themes within the Wellbeing, Health, andCommunities pathway. The focus of the project is specifically to interrogatehow alternative food spaces intersect with their foodscapes to tacklelong-term food insecurity. It is well documented that there are recursiverelationships between food security and mental and physical health asdemonstrated by the research of the primary supervisor. The ability toachieve food security relies upon the consistent ability to afford and accessfood, to have it available in the place where one lives, and to be able toutilise it effectively for nutritional health. The ways that foodscapes areconfigured can contribute to or reduce the vulnerability to food insecurityand the impacts on health and wellbeing faced by those who are foodinsecure. Through its attention to ways in which communities facingeconomic hardship and social isolation can interact with food healthilyoutside of traditional economic means, this project directly addresses thepathway interests in health and wellbeing in communities experiencingsocio-economic inequalities.
