The main research question of this proposal, then, is: Is it morally permissible, or perhaps even required, to redesign natural processes in order to alleviate wild animal suffering? Apart from the objections that less ambitious forms of intervention also encounter, like the alleged intractability of naturogenic wild animal suffering (Delon & Purves 2018) or our lack of the knowledge and the means to do so (Johannsen 2020), nature reengineering faces some specific challenges. All of them should be addressed if we are to have a compelling answer to the research question presented above
