5a-Reductases: Mapping pathways of Metabolic Disease

5-α还原酶抑制剂减轻了良性前列腺增生的症状，也减轻了肝中糖皮质激素的分解。过量的糖皮质激素被公认为诱导代谢和心血管疾病。本项目旨在通过（1）电子健康数据集的调查，包括THINS，SCI-DC和NHIRD（台湾），以及（2）SNP和eQTL研究来构建5-alpha还原酶下游调控网络，以研究5-alpha还原酶与心脏代谢疾病进展之间的联系。

5-alpha reductase inhibitors reduce the symptoms of benign prostate hyperplasia but also the breakdown of glucocorticoid in liver. Excess glucocorticoids are well recognised to induce metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. This project aims to investigate the link between 5-alpha reductase and progression of cardiometabolic diseases through (1) the investigation of electronic health datasets, including THINS, SCI-DC, and NHIRD (Taiwan), and (2) SNP and eQTL studies to construct the downstream regulatory networks of 5-alpha reductase.
