Effective field theory in the canonical ensemble

The project is to reconsider the work of Gardiner, Morgan, Billam and Mason, which elaborated a perturbative approach to beyond-mean-field dynamics of atomic Bose-Einstein condensates in a consistent, total number conserving fashion. However, in terms of numerical implementation, this approach appeared to be prone to instabilities, and the current project is an attempt to overcome this by developing the theory within a finite basis with a high-energy cutoff, following the lead of successful, complementary c-field approaches.
