The aim of this PhD project is to improve prediction methods and physical understanding offorcing mechanisms on non-axisymmetric assemblies and develop mitigation measures if possible. This will beachieved by developing and validate CFD methods for predicting fan forcing and aero-damping on non-axisymmetricOGVs under a range of operating conditions, including operation at angle-of-attack. The effects of aerodynamicdifferences on each vane as caused by vane geometry patterns and non-uniform flow conditions, as well asfrequency mistuning will be investigated. The knowledge gained during the CFD study will aid the development ofreduced order models and mitigation measures.
