I have an interest in Community Mental Health teams which are proving to be a vital development in improving care and accessibility for BAME youth. Also, as social prescribing becomes more integrated in healthcare, the growth of self-care for mental health can be steadily improved. As part of my dissertation research, I evaluated wellbeing outcomes using the WEMWBS following a mindfulness intervention in Swansea Medical School students. I was a student in a Digital Health class, where we had an interesting conversation about your research entailing the green spaces, the availability of fast foods and how such environmental factors affect young peoples health. It will be inriguing to see this develop through my proposed study and my work with RPlace. Another reason I wish to apply for this studentship, is because of my academic interests in policy and BAME engagement in my role within the Wales Anti-Racism Action Plan. First, in developing the policy and now as a member of the Anti-Racism in Wales, Criminal Justice, Independent Advisory Panel. Being the youngest member, I represent the BAME youth. This gives me exclusive oversight of wider BAME issues in the public sector which I hope to utilise in this research. As I oversee social media and branding, I am being considered as the Co-Chair for the Engagement Group, Anti Racism Committee due to my talents.
