Extended Reality (XR) technology, which includes virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR), holds immense potential across numerous sectors, including entertainment, education, healthcare, training, communication, and beyond. However, while XR technology made significant advancements in recent years, it still remains relatively inaccessible. As a PhD student at Brunel University I aim to explore the broader implications of XR technology and address these challenges. The primary objective of this research is to investigate and propose solutions for improving the design of XR applications. This will subsequently lead to increased accessibility and inclusivity of XR technology for a wider range of users, regardless of whether or not they have a disability or a health condition. The proposed project reflects the multidisciplinary nature of XR and its intersections with various fields such as computer science, human-computer interaction, psychology, design, neuroscience, arts, and social sciences. By collaborating with experts in these fields, it will be possible to develop more inclusive and accessible XR experiences.
