Forced migration, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, and Pregnancy

There is a gap in knowledge on the intersections of forced migrant survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and their experiences of pregnancy in the UK. This is despite SGBV being widespread at each stage of the forced migration journey, including in the country of refuge. The UK is no exception to this 'continuum of violence' where survivors experience further challenges to safety and recovery due to structural issues dictated by UK policy and practice. Pregnancy as the result of or following SGBV is complex for both survivors and caregivers. This PhD will address this evidence gap by examining the social, economic, psychological and health consequences of SGBV, forced migration and pregnancy.
