The proposed area of study is the complex and non-linear fluid dynamic interactions which occur between an ex- panding jet emitted from a spacecraft retro-propulsion rocket nozzle and the surface of a planetary body during a soft landing procedure, termed Plume Surface Interactions (PSI). The work will focus on the development and evaluation of a method of mitigating negative plume- surface effects by leveraging secondary flow to capture regolith ejecta, and simultaneously using supersonic fluidic injector technology to minimise plume-driven surface alteration. Unique to this proposal is the intended realisation of these goals using only spacecraft-borne hardware
