Many manufacturing operations such as for continuous casting, hot and cold rolling of slabs and strips, hardening, extrusion and forging, employ liquid jet impingement boiling because they require intensive cooling rates at specific temperatures, i.e., "Controlled Intensive Cooling" rates. However, the need for precise controlled intensive cooling rates poses a significant technological challenge because of the lack of predictive tools that can be used to design and operate proper controlled intensive cooling systems.
