英文摘要
BBSRC believe that 'basic bioscience understanding, and its effective translation is key to increasing the ability of individuals to lead healthier lives over their life course, reducing pressure on the healthcare system.' Understanding the biological underpinnings gut-brain-skin interactions, and associations with stress and wellbeing will assist future efforts to maximise the benefits of healthy living by helping to understand factors that maintain health and wellness under stress. The project will contribute to our understanding of the mechanisms underlying normal physiology and homeostatic control by investigating how mental factors can contribute to human microbiome modulation, and the bi-directionality of this association. This will potentially lead to novel non-pharmacological interventions for skin conditions
