The Levallois method of stone working was re-invented several times in prehistory due to its useful ability to create many different end-products. One iteration of Levallois stone working dates to the late Neolithic in Britain (3,000-2,500BC). Since its identification in the 1970s, late Neolithic 'Levallois-like' technology has been interpreted as evidence of emerging craft specialisation. This project outlines a substantial programme of assemblage analysis and the creation of new primary data that will allow this theory to be investigated, leading to the development of a more nuanced and accurate depiction of late Neolithic stone working.
