英文摘要
This project will explore videogames' portrayals of nature and the eco-critical significance of the mechanical, narrative, and aesthetic functions assigned to natural environments. Establishing the textual impact of videogames' human creators and the complex convergence of player and character identities, this project will discuss, analyse, and adapt eco-critical theory to consider a diverse sample of videogames that spans genres and time. Through this, my study will produce an in-depth investigation of the anthropocentric natural environments present in videogames, designed for, and defined by the player's interactions, revealing the extent to which current design conventions reinforce and reward exploitations of nature.
