英文摘要
This core has three components: 1. Molecular Biology and Biochemical Support Services directed by Dr. Beck; 2. Subcore C1: Human Body Composition and Energy Balance Assessment Services directed by Dr. Zeisel and Ms. Busby; and, 3. Subcore C2: Animal Nutritional and Metabolic Phenotyping Services directed by Dr. Pomp. The Core facility provides investigators in the field of Nutrition with the ability to use state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques. It helps investigators develop and use biomarkers for nutritional studies. It also assesses whole-body metabolism, body composition, and activity in humans and in mice and rats. The main goal of the Core is to provide information and training to investigators in techniques that they are unfamiliar with, but which would enhance their research. We hope to show how these techniques can be adapted for use in the investigator's own research program. By providing a common service to multiple users, we also hope to facilitate the development of collaborations among investigators. During the past five years, 55 established investigators have used our services, and we have provided services to 15 young investigators and those new to the field of Nutrition. In addition, in collaboration with the Nutrition Epidemiology Core, we have offered several workshops to disseminate information to potential Core users
