Justice, Incentives, and Constructivism

One of the most influential arguments foe economic inequalities, often endorsed on the left as well as on the right of the political spectrum, claims inequality is a price worth paying to maintain incentives for the efficient use and development of human productive potential. My project examines this type of argument from the perspective of contemporary political philosophy, and in so doing asks whether principles of distributed justice should extend to our everyday economic activity rather then apply only to our public institutions.
