STUDY OF C ELEGANS BY FRET AND FCS

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. In vivo study of Integrin-Linked Kinase (ILK) proteins interactions in C Elegans using FRET microscopy was performed (Breusegem, et al 2002) and the results support the possibility of using FRET microscopy to study the interactions more in detail. In this work, the in vivo study of ILK interactions in adult C Elegans using FRET microscopy is continued and the interactions of the ILK proteins during the formation of muscle structure in the embryonic state will be examined using FRET microscopy and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy.
