This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. I am studying microbial diversity in sediment samples from various bodies of water (currently Mount Hope Bay). I used the BRC nanodrop to determine the amount of DNA after a PCR reaction targeting the V6 region of 16s RNA. We have a spectrometer across the hall but I tend to get variable results and had heard from others how reliable the nanodrop was. My source of funding is an Astrobiology grant from NAI/NASA to P.I.
