This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Previous biochemical characterization of the protein components of meiotic recombination complexes has been limited. Only a few components of the recombination complex have been identified and these have been studied only outside of a meiotic context following expression in mitotic yeast or E. coli. We are attempting to identify and characterize components of the meiotic recombination complex by purifying them from the normal cellular context in which they function.
