This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Immunoconjugates of betulinol derivatives are synthesized in order to develop potential anti-cancer and anti-STD / anti-HIV drugs. Mass spectrometry was used for the identification of several of these compounds. This was achieved by nanospray MS and MS/MS, using a polypropyl derivative as the internal calibration standard. It is planned to completely solve the fragmentation mechanism in order to more safely distinguish certain isomers, and to examine further new compounds.
