PROSTATE CANCER CONTROL STUDY

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study will identify 3,000 men aged 65 years of age or older who do not have detectable prostate cancer and whose prostate cancer screens (PSA levels and digital rectal exam) are not suspicious for cancer (PSA 2.5 ng/ml for the last 3 years and no family history of prostate cancer). We will obtain 20 ml of blood from each individual for the isolation of leukocyte DNA to use as controls for comparing to men with prostate cancer.
