OBJECTIVE: To document the long-term outcome (prognosis) of patients diagnosed with upper extremity deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) who are treated with Fragmin (dalteparin sodium injection) followed by Warfarin for 3 months. Specific Aims 1. To evaluate the incidence of recurrent venous thromboembolism in patients diagnosed with upper extremity DVT who are treated with Fragmin followed by Warfarin for 3 months. 2. To evaluate the incidence of major bleeding in patients diagnosed with upper extremity DVT who are treated with Fragmin followed by Warfarin for 3 months. 3. To evaluate the incidence of post-phlebitic syndrome at one year in patients with upper extremity DVT. 4. To gather descriptive/demographic data on patients with upper extremity DVT. 5. To perform a pharmacoeconomic assessment of treatment of upper extremity DVT using low molecular weight heparin.
