This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Mr. Grayson serves as the archivist for the American Society for Mass Spectrometry. In this capacity, he is responsible for maintaining archives of important original literature, instrumental artifacts, replicas of instruments, data, and other items of value to the scientific community documenting the historical past of mass spectrometry. During this last year, Mr. Grayson prepared posters and exhibit materials to enhance the exhibition of replica instruments made expressly for the American Society for Mass Spectrometry in the laboratories at Cambridge University in the UK. This exhibit is a traveling exhibit which is available for venues around the United States and describes in brief detail the work leading up to the discovery of the electron, rays of positive electricity and the neutron.
