G. Program Administration Organizational Structure and Administration of the Program. The TAMUK SCORE Program encompasses three different colleges but resides under the administrative oversight of the Dean of Arts and Sciences. The Program Director assumes overall administrative responsibility for conduct of the program and works directly with the faculty, chairs and deans of the involved programs. Input from the internal advisory committee is given to the Program Director. In turn the Program Director reports directly to the Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP). The ORSP Director in turn reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the Provost and President. Within this organizational scheme, the MBRS program can provide input regarding issues pertinent to research such as policy decisions and changes. The Program Director is requesting a total of 20% released time to perform the duties of the SCORE Program. In particular, the P.D. is primarily responsible for the oversight of all individual SCORE grants, particularly the daily budgeting and payroll components. In addition, the administration of a total of 15 proposals would warrant the need for someone to dedicate significant time to the constant "oversight" of the SCORE faculty. The P.D. is responsible to ensure that conflicts of interest are resolved and that no questionable issues are allowed to further develop with respect to SCORE grants. The P.D. will be closely supervising the administrative assistant that performs the various clerical and administrative duties required by the daily supervision of the SCORE grant. The P.D. will also be primarily responsible for the coordination of the workshop/seminar series. He will be responsible for the selection of invited speakers (to be selected by the SCORE faculty) and to coordinate their visits. The P.D. will also be responsible for the collection and acquisition of the assessment data that will be provided by the SCORE faculty. This data is vital to establish the baseline and observable trends in grant performance throughout the entire grant cycle. The P.D. is also responsible for collection, preparation and submission of all relevant information for yearly progress reports. The P.D. is also the primary contact for new faculty that wish to submit proposals to the SCORE Program and thus would be the key contact for all pertinent issues regarding animal use, hazardous materials and human subject use. An internal advisory committee will be utilized, when appropriate, as a steering committee to determine the eligibility of applicants and to also serve in the capacity of oversight for the funded projects. This committee will primarily oversee administrative and programmatic matters. This committee is composed of the following people: Dr. Rafael Perez-Ballestero MBRS SCORE P.I.
