The goal of Core Component A is to facilitate interactions among various Projects and Cores. The Core
Component A serves as a center of coordination and administration for all components of this Program
Project. Specifically, the Core Component A will provide administrative service, as well as scientific input
from an external advisory group. The director of the Core Component A (Dr. Alexey Ryazanov) will have the
overall responsibility for the Core, and will supervise a part time administrator (Ms. Melissa Pearson). Some
of the specific functions of the Core are: (1) to organize regular teleconferences to facilitate interactions
among Project Leaders. (2) to serve as a liaison between the Project and National Institutes of Health. (3) to
prepare reports and manuscripts. (4) to arrange travels for Project Leaders to attend meetings, and (5) to
arrange annual meetings with the external advisory group.
