This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. GeneIndex is a program that analyzes whole genomes for k-tuples of arbitrary lenght up to 31. This is a dramatic expansion upon current capabilities of programs that analyze entire genomes. However, the memory requirements are so large that it is possible (in practice) only to run it on clusters. The purpose of this project is to test and port GeneIndex to several TeraGrid systems so that it can be made available as part of the community code portion of the software accessible tousers of the TeraGrid
