This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. We plan to collect bring two kinds of crystals for data collection. The first is the FF domain of CA150. We collected some diffraction data at ALS but were not able to solve the structure, due to insufficient diffraction limit. We plan to collect at least a Se-MAD dataset to 3.5 ¿ from this trip. The second kind of crystals were of a tumor supressor protein whose expression is either lost or dramatically down-regulated in ovarian and breast cancer cells. The protein, ARHI, belongs to the Ras super family but it has a unique N-terminal extension which renders its function in growth inhibition in normal cells. We have crystallized the protein and they diffracted to ~3.9 ¿ at home. We plan to collect at least a native dataset and possibly a Se-MAD if we can getthe crystals before the trip.
