PROJECT SUMMARY - ADMINISTRATIVE CORE
The Administrative Core will coordinate the scientific, administrative, and financial functions of this multi-project,
multi-investigator P01 Program to enable the successful development of broadly protective coronavirus vaccines.
The Administrative Core will be led by Dr. Neil King, with the support of Research Manager Dr. Ratika
Krishnamurty and Research Coordinator Kristina Herrera. The Core will build on established successful
collaborations between Project and Core leads, leveraging existing administrative infrastructure to meet the
needs of the Program. The Administrative Core will directly support all components of the P01 (three Projects,
four Cores). The priorities of the Administrative Core are three-fold: (1) The Core will organize the administrative
needs of the consortium including building a strong leadership team, distribution and monitoring of funds,
allocating resources, ensuring effective use of the four Scientific Cores, and management of all contractual
arrangements. The Core will ensure timely completion of progress reports, supplements, and renewals to the
NIH. (2) The Core will establish a communication framework that facilitates frequent and open interaction
between Projects and Cores. This includes planning monthly teleconferences between team members,
planning and facilitating an annual all-hands meeting, and implementing data sharing and material shipping
guidelines. (3) Engaging with the broader scientific community is a priority for the Administrative Core. In addition
to facilitating timely and transparent publication of results and supporting training, networking, and dissemination
of data by travel, the Core will direct a reciprocal seminar series with different multidisciplinary vaccine research
consortiums in each year of the Program.
