Core A – Administration
ABSTRACT
The primary goals of Core A – Administration are to provide leadership, logistical support, and coordinated
communication for all members and collaborators of the Midwest AViDD Center in order to expedite the
successful completion of all specific aims. The PI of Core A is Reuben Harris and the Co-I is Fang Li, which
mirrors the overall leadership arrangement with Dr. Harris as corresponding Co-PI and Li as Co-PI. The specific
aims of Core A are to 1) provide strong and consistent leadership; 2) provide services to Program scientists,
collaborators, industry partners, and Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) members; and 3) coordinate center
communications including meetings, workshops, and outreach efforts. The efficient administration of this multi-
institutional team is essential for the successful development of novel small molecules with potential to become
orally available drugs to treat SARS-CoV-2 (all projects) and other viruses with pandemic concern (at least one
other virus to be targeted by each project).
Harris and Li both have experience managing multi-investigator, matrixed grants, and they meet weekly to
coordinate center management. They are supported by a full-time Executive Administrative Coordinator, who
provides day-to-day administrative support and coordinates meetings, workshops, travel and other
communication and networking activities. The Executive Leadership Team (ExLT), which consists of Project and
Core PIs, meets monthly to review the status of scientific progress and discuss administrative business including
budgets. The ExLT will also receive quarterly go/no-go recommendations on hit-to-lead (H2L) advancement from
the HTL Committee, which may trigger appropriate budget adjustments. Core A will also coordinate an annual
workshop for all center personnel, Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) members, and Industry Partners on dates
juxtaposing an anticipated pan-AViDD consortium meeting at the NIH campus. The SAB will be appointed with
consultation from NIAID AViDD network leadership and will participate in the annual workshop and other
meetings as required by NIAID. Additional meetings of PIs, Project personnel, Core personnel, outside
collaborators, and all center-associated personnel occur on a biweekly or monthly basis as specified by each
component. Web-based zoom meetings facilitate the participation of all team members regardless of geographic
location.

核心A的PI是Reuben Harris,Co-I是Fang Li,
