英文摘要
PROJECT SUMMARY
The U42 SPF4 grant at the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) helps to support a highly
productive HIV/AIDS research program. Significant increases in grant funding and the need for larger group
sizes have strained the Center’s resources, particularly space and caging necessary for breeding colony
management and expansion. Therefore, additional caging is being requested to support this research by
providing optimal housing that increases animal welfare in the new Bosky Building. The Bosky Building,
brought online in early 2023, will enhance U42 supported HIV/AIDS research in three key ways, it will: 1)
allow for more dynamic breeding group management by allowing formation of additional breeding groups in
a timely manner; 2) provide space for animal acclimation to indoor housing prior to HIV/AIDS research
assignment; and 3) free up space for U42 supported research in other buildings that until now has housed
animals not on research protocols .The ONPRC is in significant need of new, updated caging to allow full
utilization of the Bosky Building. Six one-over-one Socialization Racks (12 cages total) and one mobile
vertical tunnel will be purchased for use in the Bosky Building to accomplish the key metrics for U42 colony
support discussed.
