英文摘要
Tufts University Medical School
Dr. Edward Goldberg is designing molecular sensors that will use magnetic reporting to detect anthrax
infection. The long-term goal is to develop a hand-held diagnostic device that will use a non-destructive
detection method to identify anthrax in patient samples. They are using bacteriophage tail fiber protein to
determine the magnetic susceptibility of protein-nanoparticle conjugates for use as detection biosensors. He
requested the production of E. coli cell pellets infected with a mutant form of the long tail fiber of bacteriophage
T4. ¿. co// cultures were grown and infected with bacteriophage. Because we use fermentors with a
programmable control system we were able to provide the fast growing culture with sufficient oxygen supply, a
problem Dr. Goldberg had encountered in his previous efforts in his own laboratory. We completed one
fermentation run that generated 180 g of cell pellet which was further processed in Dr. Goldberg's laboratory.
