This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The objective of this research project is to determine the efficacy of utilizing a child's hospitalization as an appropriate point of intervention for parents who smoke. We hypothesize that parents who complete a smoking cessation intervention program, while their child is hospitalized, will have higher rates of participation, follow-up, and actual smoking cessation, than has been previously reported for parents of children seen in the outpatient setting.
