PHASE III RANDOMIZED TRIAL PREOP CHEMO VS CHEMO/RADIO/SURGERY FOR LUNG CANCER

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Participants with lung cancer will be recruited to this study. Data from previous studies suggests that chemotherapy followed by surgery seems to produce better response rates over surgery alone however, at this time, the role of chemotherapy plus radiation after surgery has not been tested. The purpose or this study is to compare the effects, good and/or bad, of two treatments on subjects with lung cancer to find out which is better. The two treatments are: Chemotherapy followed by surgery Chemotherapy and radiation followed by surgery Subjects in this study will get one of the above treatments; not both. However, all subjects will receive chemotherapy after surgery.
