This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The proposed protocol aims to combine functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), EEG/ERP, and eyetracking measures to study 1) the neural circuitry and related electrophysiological signals controlling the psychophysical, cognitive, and oculomotor aspects of eye movement abnormalities; and 2) the degree to which brain activity aggregates in families. We hypothesize that reduced imaging signals in the motion processing circuitry are present in non-schizophrenic full siblings of patients; and the imaging signals will be significantly correlated among sibling pairs. Secondarily, the inclusion of full siblings will help to evaluate whether the fMRI/ERP findings in patients are secondary to psychosis or antipsychotic drug use.
