This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. NEURON is widely used in the Computational Neuroscience community and PSC has a reputation for encouraging biomedical computational research. Since NEURON has been shown to run efficiently on massively parallel machines such as the 8192 processor EPFL IBM BlueGene but that machine does not currently have an administrative structure in place for supporting outside computational projects, it seems reasonable support NEURON on the PSC's 2068 processor xt3.
