This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. As a growing number of arguments point to the influence of biological factors on human sexual orientation, less is known about biological factors that may influence a transsexual identity. Of particular interest are what neurological and cognitive structures have an effect on a Male-to-Female (MTF) transsexual identity. This study intends to use brain imaging, neuropsychological tests, and psychological measures in order to attempt to identify factors influencing a transsexual identity.
