英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. When a cell prepares to divide, discrete packages of DNA called chromosomes are precisely replicated and then the copies are held together until the cell splits in two. This process is referred to as sister chromatid cohesion. We are interested in the etiology of certain human disorders that result from partial loss of sister chromatid cohesion. In this project we are building a series of cell lines to test the hypothesis errors in the timing of cell division due to reduced sister chromatid cohesion might contribute to the symptoms seen in these disorders.
