ORAL STATUS OF ADOLESCENT AND ADULT CYSTIC FIBROSIS PATIENTS

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This research is sponsored by The MUSC College of Dental Medicine. The purpose of this study is to determine the oral health status in an adult population of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. The primary goal of this research is to assist dental professionals in providing better care for adult CF patients. Subjects are being asked to participate in this study because they are an adult who has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. The investigator in charge of this study is Mr. Andrew Shessel, a student at the college of dental medicine. This study is being done in the Dental Suite at the MUSC General Clinical Research Center and will involve approximately 30 volunteers.
