This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in young women and men with stress fractures and healthy age-and gender-matched controls. To determine the relationship between vitamin D metabolites and bone turnover (measures of formation and resorption) and osteolytic (IL-6) factors in a cohort of young adults with and without stress.
