英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Several lines of evidence consistently point to an inverse relationship between testosterone and insulin in men, but current data on causality are conflicting. On the one hand, testosterone administration has been shown to ameliorate insulin resistance in obese men. On the other hand, weight loss has been demonstrated to increase testosterone levels. Thus, precise definitions of these relationships need to be established and their causative determinants defined.
